New York, New York

Hey,
So last week was quite a big one for me as I ventured further from home than ever before. I went on my first flight to New York City!
I can honestly say it was one of the best places I have ever been and I'm already desperate to go back. So to kick off this blogging year I thought I would share with you some of my favourite from the trip, these include images from The Top Of The Rock, Times Square and a snowy Central Park.
I hope you enjoy these photos, speak soon.
XOXO

Sunday Chill

Hey Guys,
So it's been a little while since my last post and I thought I would fill you in since we last spoke.

I am now back at college and have been for a couple of months, I'm in my second year and really enjoying it so far. At work I am just about to change roles which is really exciting for me as I will now be working within womens wear! I also have a couple of really exciting things coming up in the next couple of months that I will hopefully be documenting on here.

This weekend has been a really nice, chilled one for me and so I thought I would share with you what I wore today! This is an outfit I have found myself constantly reaching for at the minute now the weather has become chilly. It's a really comfortable wear and I feel that my new coat adds a trendier feel to an otherwise quite straight forward look, teamed with my white trainers to give a contrast against the black and grey. My kanken is also perfect for everyday use when I'm running errands.

My fashion Inspirations

Hey,
Today I wanted to talk about my current fashion inspirations, women that I look to when I'm struggling to know what to wear.
Although I am interested in some high end fashion I get the majority of my ideas from women that I find I can relate to more such as bloggers and youtubers. In fact all of the ladies I will feature in this post are bloggers/youtubers, apart from one.

Firstly is Jess from the youtube channel 'SunBeamsJess'. With her style it's the edgy characteristics that I love. I really like a lot of the oversized pieces that she styles as they look so comfy yet also really fashionable and different to what anyone would wear or how they would style it. Not to mention the fact that I love every pair of sunglasses she owns. I adore Jess' hair as well, the image above however is quite old so it can't be seen here, but she rocks the super short and edgy Bob complimenting her style perfectly. I would also just like to add that she really inspires me to travel, just seeing all of the beautiful places she has visited in her vlogs makes me want to go and see as much of the world as possible.
Overall I would say Jess has the ultimate laid back cool and edgy vibe that I love incorporate into my summer style, she is my go to if I want a laid back day to day look in these summer months.

Secondly is the super cool Megan Ellaby of 'PagesByMegan' . I first saw Megan on Instagram when she was a stylist for ASOS and since she has had her Youtube channel I have fallen in love with her outfits. I have never seen someone rock statement pieces like Megan does, she just gets it right everytime pairing key feminine pieces with more tomboy vibes makes for an amazing look. To carry it all off Megan has the ultimate care free attitude to what she's wearing and lives by not caring what people think of what she's wearing as long as she loves it, a motto that I 100% agree with. In the image above is one of my favourite of her most recent looks as I feel all of the elements come together perfectly. The dress is super cute and girly but the sunglasses and jacket casual the whole outifit down in a perfect way. 10/10 for you Miss Ellaby.

Next up is the lovely Lizzy Hadfield from the blog and Youtube channel 'Shot From The Street'. To me Lizzy has the ultimate chic look pairing smart blazers with casual T-shirts, Girlfriend Jeans and Gucci loafers, her look could not be more of the moment and cool. I will usually look to Lizzy's Instagram for inspo on a day when I want to either look slightly smarter or just make a pair of jeans and a T look cool, her Instagram is basically just a hub of outfit posts just what you need for those days when you're lacking ideas. To add to this her weekly vlogs are brilliant, showing you how hard working and down to earth she is, I definitely get a lot of motivation from her as she puts 110% into her blog. Finally her film pictures (like the one above) are to die for! They look really vintage with loads of character, it makes me want to buy one right away!

And last but not least is the super cool Jess Woodley most well known for being on the TV show 'Made In Chelsea'. I have watched MIC since day 1 and to be honest at first I was a huge fan of Jess' but as the show has gone on I really feel like she has come into her own both character wise and style wise. To me she is the ultimate Chelsea cool girl! Also she is ultimate hair goals, but I just don't know how she gets it to look so good. I love her laid back look, similar to SunBeamsJess, she pairs a lot of oversized T-shirts and Jumpers with classic Mom jeans which I feel is such a timeless look. She also rocks dungaree's on a daily basis which I love. The thing that I feel is really cool about Jess and her style is that she stands out against the rest of the MIC cast and how she doesn't care that others may she feel she looks scruffy, she rolls with it and looks bloody awesome if you ask me.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and seeing who my go to gals are for some serious fashion Inspo. I got all of these images from the girls instagrams!

Basic Summer Outfit

Hey,
I wanted to share a Fashion post as I have yet to do any on this blog, and Fashion is what I want the majority of content on here to be!
This is my basic summer outfit for a casual day out. I added the bright yellow bag and fish net socks to add something a bit more interesting to the whole look, although it's safe to say that underestimated how hot it was going to be on this day so I was quite hot! To cool the outfit down I would add some statement sandals so that the outfit still stands out but is a bit more weather appropriate.
I would also say that this outfit is very versatile and would work in autumn as a great back to school/college/uni look or even in the winter paired with a chunky knit and fluffy jacket.

T-Shirt- £12.00 Topshop
Trousers- £25.99 Zara
Converse- £45.00 Schuh
Fish Net Socks- £1.00 Primark
Bag- £20.00 TkMaxx
Nails- £1 Kiko

Recently Read/ Currently Reading

Hey,
So it's been a short while since I last posted on here and so I thought I'd bring you a list of books that I have recently read and loved!
I have been getting back into reading slowly but surely since I've been on my summer holidays and I've been enjoying it a lot, however I do have to admit that my phone has been glued to my hand a bit too much in the past few weeks. But I will change that soon (I promise!)

Book 1-  Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Where do I begin with this book??? It was amazing, I would even go as far as to say it was the best out of all the books featured in this post. Without giving away any spoilers this novel is all about a young girl named Maddy who suffers from an illness that means she is allergic to everything, therefore meaning that she has to stay in the controlled confines of her home 24/7. However she soon becomes acquainted with Olly who lives next door. From there it is all about how much are you willing to risk for love?
I can honestly say this is a beautifully written book that I finished in under a week due to it being such a page turner. It also involves amazing twists making the story so gripping and allowing you to truly fall in love with the characters and the journey that they go on. 10/10 for this amazing debut Novel from Nicola Yoon and I cannot wait until her next novel is released, it's safe to say I will be buying it the day it is out. I loved the character of Olly particularly, due to his love for adventure and how strong he stays considering deep struggles he faces at home, also his and Maddy's love is so amazing and shows that there is truly someone out there for everyone even if you can't leave your house it will find a way.

Book 2- The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy nelson
This was my most recently finished book out of this list and I found it to be a very interesting read. In a brief overview this story is all about Lennie Walker a teenager who's sister very sadly passed away four weeks ago. It is all about how she is dealing with the grief of the loss of her older sister and best friend.
At first I found this book quite slow but as it went on I found it more gripping the more involved I felt in the characters I was reading about. One of the things I found really lovely about this book was the unique quirks of the family really showing that everyone is different but it is those characteristics that people love you for. Furthermore following the main storyline in the book I found it really dealt with such a saddening situation in a beautiful manner, allowing people to see that we all grieve differently and that's ok. Not to mention the romance aspect, which is of course my favourite aspect of every book, I loved the character of Joe in this book, I would say he was one of my favourites. Showing how caring he was and putting through the underlying thought that if you surround yourself with people who care about you and who you care about you are guaranteed to be happy.

Book 3- Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne
I sadly do not have a photo of this book as I borrowed it from a friend who read it and recommended it to me as she loved it. Am I Normal Yet? Is a novel about a teenage girl who has struggled with severe OCD in the past but is starting to slowly come off of her medication and lead a normal life at college putting her illness behind her. As she is slowly growing as a person she gains two close friends who support her along the way paired with new experiences in terms of dating.
This book contained so many aspects which I loved, mentioning a number of different key topics in a straight forward and easy to grasp manner. I particularly loved the characters Lottie and Amber as I feel they are real role models for teenage girls such as myself, completely strong and independent I found the inner working of feminism into the group of three very clever and great introduction to it for those who are not familiar. It definitely made me want to learn more. I also found Bourne's writing very easy to follow and that the story was easy to follow also  showing the deep struggles Evie faces battling with her OCD, although quite hard hitting at times this book really allows you to get into the inner working of Evie's mind dealing with a topic very current to today's society.

Book 4- How To Build A Girl by Caitlin Moran
I am currently reading this Novel by Caitlin Moran as I have never read any of her work before but find her TV programme Raised By Wolves brilliant (although this has now been cancelled much to my disappointment). I have gone in completely blind with this book, I don't think I even really read what it was about before purchasing it. However so far I am finding it very interesting, only 46 pages in and I feel it's about to get even better.
In all honesty I was shocked by the opening page of this book as it was not at all what I was expecting, and it seems the theme may run throughout, however I can clearly tell this was the intention of Moran. Without seeing much of a storyline yet I feel I know the main character Johanna quite well, and can see a few links between her and Germaine from Raised By Wolves, I can also say I am also developing strong dislike for a certain character already. I know this all sounds very vague but I don't want to give too much away yet and I have barely begun with it. Maybe I will do a full review of this novel once I have finished it.

I hope you have enjoyed this post as I would like to make book reviews a regular feature on my blog. I purchased all of these books from amazon so they can all be found there. I will be back with you very soon for a fashion related post, but until then, Bye!

Lunching at the Trago Lounge

Hey Guys,

On Thursday my Mum and I had the day all to ourselves, so we decided it was the perfect opportunity for a girly catch up over a spot of lunch.

We decided to take a trip to the Trago Lounge! We had visited here once before and really enjoyed the food, music, decor and atmosphere, we have also been to another branch in Cornwall.
The main thing that  love about the Lounge is it's truly unique and eclectic style, piled high with old books, clashing wallpaper and paintings as well as beautifully mismatched tables and chairs giving it a homely feel. The weather was not so summery this day, even though it is almost July (typical Britain), I would definitely say this is a cosy place to sit, whether it be for lunch, dinner, or even just a coffee catch up with friends.
Me and my Mum love to share they're tapas dishes for lunch, Chorizo and Red onion is a yes from me any day of the week!
To find your local lounge visit- http://thelounges.co.uk/

p.s They do the best sherbet lemonade 100% would recommend!

I hope you've enjoyed this quick little review, and I may do more in the future if I find any similar little hideouts!

Dream Denim DIY

Hey Guys,

For my first ever post on this blog I thought I would do a simple post on how I customised an old pair of jeans to give them a new lease of life.
As you have most probably seen frayed denim is a huge trend this season, sported in high street shops such as Zara and H&M. As soon as I set my eyes on them I knew I wanted to bag myself a pair but couldn't justify purchasing yet another pair of jeans, so i decided to customise a pair that I already owned.
I bought this pair in H&M just over a year ago for £19.99, they are a dark blue shade with lighter colouring at the knees. I would say they are mid rise and skinny fit. I love the shape of these jeans and they were such a bargain, but I haven't worn them as much recently as I found the length to be too long and quite awkward to wear with any type of shoe that isn't a boot. So I simply headed to the holy grail of tutorials, Youtube, to point me in the right direction.
It's a very easy process, all you have to do is cut your jeans to desired length, perhaps as bit longer to give room for potential shrinking, grab a pair of tweezers and pull at the edge to give that distressed look!

I'm really pleased with the finished look, and now know I will get a lot more use out of these dreamy jeans.
